Murrurundi Troop of the 12th Australian Light Horse Beersheba Day this year (2017) was labelled by Colonel Glenn Ryan as the best he has seen in his years as a professional soldier.
The ceremony was held at 11:00 on Saturday (October 28, 2017) on Murrurundi's Wilson Memorial Oval and featured an address by Colonel Ryan with the commemorative prayer delivered by Rev. Barbara Morgan.
The prayer for the Queen was delivered by Blandford Public School pupil Brady Roser while Alena Gorst from Murrurundi public school delivered the Prayer for the Nation.
The benediction was also read by Rev. Barbara Morgan.
On show for the first time was a WWI wagon used by the troops along with a water tanker.
Both were obtained and restored by local Blandford lad, Kevin Taylor.
The day didn't end with the march of the Light Horse; it was followed by a luncheon at the Bowling Club and complimented with a showing of Beersheba drawings by schoolchildren from Blandford, Murrurundi and Scone Grammar schools.
The exhibition "One Mans War - Maxwell Edward Wright — a photographic exhibition" is open from 10:00 to 1:00 every weekend and feature exclusive photos from the Wright family of Bickham and open till Sunday December 3.
